Hi, I'm Caroline Thomas. At the moment, I'm in the process of starting up an Iris baby house in Madagascar.

Madagascar is a beautiful island about 400 km (250 miles) off the coast of Mozambique. It has many unique animals and plants, and many beautiful sights including rainforest, coast and mountains.

At the moment, according to the world bank, Madagascar is ranked as one of the poorest countries in the world. The population is 20 million, and 85% of that population live on less than $2 a day. About 1:10 children die before they are 5 years old. The President of Madagascar is wanting to improve his country. He has a good and detailed plan of how he plans to do this in the coming years, linking his plan with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals for 2015. This plan is available on www.map.gov.mg

The plan for Iris Madagascar is to open a baby house to take in abandoned babies and orphans and also to begin to take in street children and homeless families who need somewhere to live. I feel that there is a real need for this. We plan on raising these children as an Iris family, to know how precious they are, how loved they are, and to know that each one is special and unique, that their God made each one of them with a plan and a purpose.

At the moment we are in the process of completing paperwork to register Iris as an NGO in Madagascar. I would really value prayers that this process goes smoothly and well.
